My name is Mrs. Gibson, and I teach 9th and 10th grade English Language Arts (ELA) at Premier High School. Go Titans!

If you were listening to me speak instead of reading this text, you would know that I am not originally from Arizona. My family and I moved here five years ago from a small town in Georgia. Although I never thought I would leave my rural home, I have to say that it has been one of the best experiences of my life. I love the weather (yes, even the summer), being near a large city and all the cultural offerings (like attending baseball games—Go D’backs!), and the PEOPLE! Arizonians are the best!

I am married and have four children: my two sons (Perrin and Broden), my step-son (Christian), and the best little girl in the whole wide world (Arya). I know, I know, it seems like I favor Arya, but to be fair, I was the only female in a house of males for a long time, so I’m still pretty excited that she came along to bless our lives. Other favorites include The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, the D’Backs, and the Denver Broncos.

Although the 2017-2018 school year will only mark my second year at Premier High School, I have nine years in education. During this time, I have taught all high school grades (9-12). In addition to my experience as an ELA teacher, I have had the pleasure of working with students of all ages as the Center Director of Sylvan Learning. This was a great experience that helped me to recognize the importance of skill assessments and building foundation skills. It is that knowledge that I sought to bring to Premier High School when I reentered the classroom. It is my goal to deliver meaningful content, supported by foundational skill reinforcement and a variety of reading strategies, that will ensure all my students are challenged enough to meet or exceed their goals, without becoming frustrated. It may take a little effort, but together we can get there.

I hope this gives you a little more insight into who your child will be working with this year. If you have any questions about my teaching philosophies, assignments, or how your student is doing in class, please don’t hesitate to call the school. I am always available to chat or meet in person. Thanks for dropping by my page.
